Severence #2 (2026)

'Severance #2' is the second of three pieces by British abstract artist Tim Willcox and marks a continued shift within the artist’s evolving abstract practice. Moving away from overt narrative and environmental storytelling, this work embraces further a quieter, more intuitive language where form, gesture and atmosphere take precedence over explanation.

With Severance, I'm stepping away further from storytelling and allowing the work to evolve on its own terms. I'm focusing more on ambiguity and on creating space for feeling, quiet connection and above all purposeful ambiguity and wanted a sense of loosening my style. I'm working openly and with purpose and I like that a lot - this painting feels like a new direction with rich, deep layers of texture and meaningful collage. I'm trying to push onwards, toward a more instinctive way of working where texture and simple forms speak first and the painting takes its own direction.
